RF stands for Radio Frequency
The RF connector is called an RF connector because the connector is used to transmit a signal whose frequency is within the Electromagnetic Spectrum. It is found on nearly all TV's and VCR's in the UK and is the main connection for a terrestrial aerial.
The connector is officially known as the Belling-Lee connector or IEC 169-2 connector.
