Help:How to add an Image

From WikiAV

Jump to: navigation, search

Images can be added to any article very easily; there are various options available including resizing images, image positioning, image captions and text, any or all of these options can be used making the system very powerful.

[edit] Getting images on the system

Images can only be uploaded if you are a registered member, to register simply click register in the right hand corner of the screen and enter a username (spaces are allowed) and a password.

Once you have registered and logged in you can upload images by clicking ‘Upload File’ from the toolbox menu on the left.

You can then select the image you want to upload from your computer.

The image name is the same as the file name so if you are uploading something please make sure the file name is relevant, don’t upload images with names like "img01.jpg" or "photo.jpg"

Remember to include a description detailing what the image is.

[edit] Using your Image

Once the image has been uploaded you can link to it by simply adding the following link to your article

There are various other options such as putting images in a box, resizing them or adding captions.

The simplest way to add an image is to use the thumbnail option
this will set the image size at 180pixels wide, put it in a box and position it on the right.

You can set a particular width by specifying the number of pixels
this will put the image in at 300pixels wide

You can add captions to the image by using the following code

And you can use image placements
or

And if that isn’t enough you can add different features together such as

Why not upload an image (remember to use a proper file name) and try out some of these features in the Sandbox
